Like they say it's not the destination but the journey. So in this case all though we are leaving Koh Chang behind our adventures continue. After a few days of printing&scanning we finally got out Cambodian e visas approved. Tommorrow morning at 7am we are heading towards a vicious 11 hour trip to Siem Reap. No hustle can compare to what we most likely will confront tommorrow.
We have read a lot of current articles and posts regarding the awaiting trip. From this beautiful Island to the majestic Angkor Wat there seems to be a lot of world class hustling. The trip from Koh Chang to Siem Reap costs only 300thb and in our knowledge it seems like a smooth ride all the way until you hit the border when the shit starts to hit the fan. For example right before the border our minibus will make a stop in a restaurant and at this point the staff will hand over bogus visa applications. Even if you are familiar with the scam it seems to be quite hard to get past. Another scam is the typical money exchange scam where the officials tell you that you need to change your thai baths to american dollars (with an horrible exchange rate, bastards) telling you can't cross the border without them. Obviously this is bullshit.
Like mentioned earlier this was our reason to stay in Koh Chang for a few more days to figure everything out and wait for the e visa approvals. E visas was our first step to dodge the scam bullet because this way they can't touch us. Just incase we also changed some thai baths to dollars with an reasonable exchange rate. Now we are all set to go and we'll see what tommorrow has in store for us.
To give our minds a rest we once again spent the day at the beach and had a fine dining experience in the evening.
